Things i’ve noticed in/about Malaysia

  • A lot of the front of house staff are men

  • There are many stray cats

  • The rats here are really big

  • Some women wear hijabs but don’t fully cover themselves

  • Lights. There are many lights

  • There was a very kind young man in Onitsuka Tiger. Im glad I purchased my shoes from him

  • Malaysia is home to many malls. There was a mall at almost each station

  • The trains here are very New York-esque

  • The trains here have womens only carriages, but there is no doors to seperate or block the view from the main carriages. (upon writing this I have realised the reason for separation is unlikely due to harassment but rather religious reasons.)

  • Mango smoothies are called Mango Su Su. They also have chunks of mango in them.

  • There are many waterways, or perhaps just one large water way. It is man made, and there are many bridges to compensate for pedestrians

  • the city does not have much colour despite it having much light

  • The trees at the park near KLCC look incredibly old and wise.

  • To convert the price from RNY to AUD, you have to divide the amount by 4, and then move it one decimal point.

  • There are many nationalities in KL. The food is incredibly diverse

  • Street tourism is heavily targeted towards young children.

  • You must be quick when crossing the road. Once the countdown finishes, the drivers (especially motorcyclists) will not wait for you

  • The times for the Petronas TT is unreliable. It only showed once during a 5 day trip.

  • The airport is very large. Comically so. What necessity is a H&M in an airport? Overconsumption will kill the world.

  • E-SIMS are not common at the airport.

  • Terminal 1 is much smaller and quieter than terminal 2.

  • Satay ayam is very delicious, but the skewer sizes are very small.

  • Malaysian people are very quiet

  • There are many Palestinian refugees here. Especially with children and babies.
